Whispered Interpreting (Chuchotage)
Whispered interpreting (also called chuchotage)
is almost similar tosimultaneous interpreting. The difference is that microphones
and booths are not used in whispered interpretation. The interpreter sits or stands
next to the (small) intended audience and interprets simultaneously in a whisper.
Whispered interpretation is often used in situations when the majority of a group
speaks onelanguage, and a limited number of people do not speak that language, for
example: for foreign guests on a TV talk-show.
